Project & Programme Management
TOC-Lean Critical Chain
2-Day Workshop

This workshop for project-driven companies explores the dramatic improvement to the bottom-line
that TOC-Lean can achieve. The workshop uses a number of practical exercises and presentations in
order to determine the real issues that affect companies in their desire to achieve the goal – to make
money now and in the future, to satisfy the market in terms of delivery performance, due date and
budget adherence with zero defect as a given.
The approach, known as TOC-Lean, is a fusion between two powerful and complementary philosophies with
proven track record in companies all around the world. This approach also requires the alignment of
the other functions within the project environment such as planning, purchasing, engineering, QA etc
in order to achieve fast time to market, to the required specification without compromising time or
budget.
Day One: the single project environment
- Why do projects overrun?
- Why is the specification always under threat?
- Why are budgets never enough?
- The response from the perspective of TOC-Lean called Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM)
- The lessons from The Goal and Critical Chain
- The Five Focusing Steps
Using a series of practical exercises, the nature of the problems facing project managers and resource
managers in this type of company are explored and causes determined. The exercises are then run a
second time using CCPM rules and comparisons are made between the two sets of results.
The steps necessary to achieve the higher level of performance achieved by using CCPM will be
covered at the end of day one.
Day Two: the multi-project environment
- The new problems of the multi-project environment
- Working through the necessary stages of change in order to implement TOC-Lean CCPM for
multi-project environments into your organisation
- The key steps in the detailed implementation of the CCPM approach
- Where to start tomorrow
- Case studies from the UK and USA
Again using a series of practical exercises, the damaging effects of multi-tasking will be covered,
followed by scheduling exercises to show how the basics of CCPM for multi-projects are achieved.
Other Key areas covered on Day Two include:
- The use of CCPM software to support and manage the complexity of multi-project environments
- The need to train personnel so they are capable of creating and validating project networks
- The need to create and support focused teams

The fee for the workshop is £ 600.00 + VAT per person
Workshops are typically run on a dedicated basis for individual companies. Numbers are limited to a
maximum of 15 and personnel should be drawn from the key areas of Project Management, Programme
Management, New Product Development, Project Scheduling and most importantly, Resource Managers
working within the project environment. This enables a firm foundation on which to build the implementation plan for
the company. Others who might attend include members of the senior team, and key personnel in Finance,
Operations, Sales and Marketing roles.
