What is...

A Theory of Constraints Expert (TOCE)

Within the Theory of Constraints (TOC) environment, as with Six Sigma and Lean, there is a considerable body of knowledge, both conceptual and practical. The TOC International Certification Organisation (TOCICO) was set up to create and maintain standards for training and the application of TOC knowledge. Please click here for an overview of the TOCICO certification process.

The TOCICO Applications are as follows:

  • TOC Project Management
  • TOC Supply Chain Logistics
  • TOC Thinking Process
  • TOC Financial Management

The starting point for most people is to become an Application Expert in one of the primary TOC solutions, and then, over time, to build on that knowledge, adding more Applications until they are seen as a Theory of Constraints Expert. The TOCE is an individual who has developed core skills in a number of Applications and is thus able to drive holistic projects within any organisation.

We offer training programmes to create internal experts for our client companies. These people are able to work through and then qualify with TOCICO examinations thus gaining internationally recognised qualifications in TOC. The primary programmes that we offer are:

  • Operations Management
  • Critical Chain Project Management
  • TOC Thinking Process
  • Holistic Thinking

These programmes are presented when there is sufficient demand, typically from one organisation which is seeking to develop their own internal expertise. Each programme is a combination of training, project work and the development of teaching and coaching skills which are an essential part of any implementation. Each application programme is typically of four months duration and requires a suitable internal project from the host organisation.
